The Goodness Of Cheap Helth Insurance

Sunday, September 5th, 2010

I was brought by my parents by introducing me to what gives us food, shelter, and other stuffs that includes money. They were both employers of a health insurance company in our place. We were not that rich, however we were still able to eat three times a day, and they can send us to school. However, I was not thinking that the occupation of my parents will not only provide us food, but also an assurance when we’ll met accidents or illnesses.

One evening, my mother and father went to our uncle’s house to talk about some important matters. We, my two older brothers, and one older sister, and I, were in the dining area playing word factory. Then suddenly, the phone rang and my sister answered it. I was not sure who that was but when we hurried to the hospital, I already knew what happened. Our eldest brother asked my dad if how we are going to pay all the bills. My dad said that we should not worry for everything will be alright.

My mother was crying about what happened. All she did was to pray and pray for our early recoveries though we weren’t hurt that bad. My older brother asked mom about the bills. And dad answered him that there’s nothing to worry because all of us were health insured! How great was that? All they need to be concerned of is our fast healing. And that’s how my eyes were opened.

And then now, I am wondering why there are still people who are not convinced on why they should get a health insurance plan. May be there are still questions in their mind that needed to be answered. Then let me help you with that.

Group Health Insurance. - How This Works

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

Employers, when they hire their employees, offer them insurance. This type of insurance is group health insurance. Group health insurance is offered by employers and large organizations to their members.

Many states require employers to pay a portion of the premium on the plans they offer. This type of health insurance is often cheaper than individual insurance because the premium paid by each person is spread amongst many people. The more people, the less the cost will be.

Group health insurance comes in 2 different forms: managed form and fee for service. Managed care has 3 subcategories: HMO, PPO, and POS. A HMO, or Health Maintenance Organization, has a list of physicians and primary care providers that are covered. The primary care physicians will refer out services as needed. If there is no referral, the cost of the outside care will be paid out of pocket.

Preferred Provider Organization or PPO is the more generous plan out of all of the plans. With this insurance, there are benefits such as lower fees are reduced co pays if you use a service provider from their list.

A POS is the Point of Service plan. This plan allows you to decide which option you would like to use, either the HMO or PPO, when the time comes that you need your plan. You can change which option you would like your plan to be each time you use it.

The second type of group health insurance is called Fee for Service. This type of insurance is also called indemnity or traditional plan. With this plan, you have the option to choose any doctor or provider of your choosing. The fees with this plan are usually higher but there are no co pays. There will be a yearly fee and coinsurance that will need to be paid for.

Group health insurance is a type of insurance offered that covers a large group of people. The premiums for these plans are lower than individual plans and have many options to choose from.

Different Options For Group Health Insurance

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

Group health insurance is when an employer is able to offer health insurance to eligible employees as a benefit for working with that company. Most employees in the US get their health insurance in this way.

What most employees don’t realize is that health insurance will differ depending on your employer as well as the state you are in. There are different group health insurance policies depending on if you are a small employer or large employer. This affects the premium rates and what is covered in the insurance.

Small Employee group health insurance cannot turn anyone down for health insurance even if they have a pre-existing condition. This is called a guaranteed insurance. The insurance plan for small employers also needs to be renewed every single year. However these small employer plans will look over the employees medical conditions and if you have a pre-existing condition the insurer may decide not to provide coverage for that issue.

The premiums and type of coverage is calculated using medical underwriting or community ratings. However most companies use medical underwriting. This means that the company will look through the employee’s medial history and adjust the premiums and rates depending on what type of coverage is needed. Sometimes certain industries have a high occurrence of certain health issues and if a lot of claims are being made then an insurance company can raise the premium for that treatment.

Large employers do not have a guaranteed issue requirement so an insurance company can reject a large company based on its past medical claims. However if you are an employee and eligible for benefits you cannot be excluded from the group insurance policy even if you have a pre-existing condition.

Large company group insurance policies will set rates and premiums based on the companies prior claims and which employees tend to participate in the health insurance program. Large companies do not require medical history or health questionnaire.
